A primary school MIS

A primary school needs the same records and returns as any school, with fewer people to look after them. PMC People is a primary school MIS that does the essentials well, with HR built in, so the school office has one system instead of several.

What a primary school MIS needs to do

Primary school software has to fit a small team. In a primary school, the office often runs admissions, attendance, dinners, parents’ messages, the census and staff records, sometimes with one or two people. A school MIS for a primary school has to be quick to use and cover the essentials without a lot of setting up.

Like any good MIS for primary schools, PMC People lets you choose the modules you need. Most primary schools start with students, attendance, behaviour, SEN, the school census and the parent portal, and leave out what a secondary school needs, such as seating plans for many rooms.

What a primary school typically uses

Pupil records

Pupils, contacts with parental responsibility and court orders, medical and dietary needs, SEN and free school meals, with CTFs in and out.

Registers

Morning and afternoon registers in seconds, with the DfE codes and an attendance office for reasons.

Behaviour and safeguarding

Achievements and incidents, and a safeguarding log only the designated safeguarding leads can see.

SEN

The SEN register, one-page profiles of what helps, support plans and EHC plan reviews.

The parent portal

Parents see their child’s attendance and reports, get messages and consent forms, and report absences from their phone.

The school census

Built from your records and checked against the DfE’s rules.

Staff records and the SCR

HR, the single central record and the workforce census in the same system.

Assessment and reports

Your own grade scales, data drops and reports to parents, printed or in the portal.

Homework

If you set it online, homework handed in and marked through the portal.

Questions about a primary school MIS

Do we need the timetable module?

Not usually. Primary schools taking class registers twice a day don’t need it. It’s there if you want lesson registers or cover.

Can we move from SIMS?

Yes. The Move from SIMS module brings your records across from SIMS’s own exports. See moving from SIMS.

How much does it cost?
